5/22/2008 William Simmons n/a n/a - Jeff Palmer sent me this link. First, let me say how sad I was to hear about your son's passing in the service of our country. As you may recall, I was in the US Navy, having recently retired after 31 years of service. I know what it is like to serve this great nation, but I cannot fathom the pain of losing a son. My son, Jordan, is on active duty in the Navy, as is my son-in-law. Anyway, we will support this great cause and please, if there is anything we can do, let us know. Warmest regards, CDR Scott and Debbie Simmons"
5232008 Thomas Sershon n/a n/a I lost a family member in Vietnam he was only in country less than two weeks before being killed in action. Its only fitting that way take the time to recognize what some many have done for this country and for freedoms that we enjoy because of what they gave

05-26-2008 Lisa Schuster Sylvania OH Our hearts are with you this day. We've been praying for you all day, hoping that the response to the unveiling was overwhelming. My son Matthew, who nearly died on Oct. 15, 2004 at the hands of a suicide car bomber, spoke today at a Memorial Day Ceremony. He spoke to honor those killed beside him on that day, Army SGT Michael Owen, teammate, Army CPL Jonathon Santos, Marine videographer CPL William Salazar, and all others who have given their life in the service of this great country. We will never let them be forgotten. Your flag will help us to make sure they are honored and remembered. God Bless You. (The web site looks great!)

Without your committment and sacrifice, this simply would not be possible. There are no words to express my awe, appreciation and gratitude for all of you. Very Sincerely, Elisa Sedlack
6/3/08 Ron "Wrlebird" Clarke Chesapeake VA This is a wonderful idea that has been too long in coming. I am a Korean (Forgotten War) War veteran. Not much has ever been made of "our" war even though we lost 58,000 in a 3 year period vs the 58,000 in the ten year Vietnam conflict. Where can one purchase this flag? Thank you. Wrlebird@yahoo.com
3 June 08 Major Chris Hrudka, USMC Jacksonville NC While a noble cause, there is already a flag to honor and commemorate those who have given their lives in defense of our country; it is called the American Flag. The American flag alone should be flying in honor of those who have died. The American flag represents our constitution, our history, and our way of life for all those who have taken an oath to serve, and it is all we need. Creating a seperate icon is actually a bit insulting. From one who has served, continues to serve, and lost many friends along the way, your movement and this flag is noble but unnecessisary. What would honor your son and all other who have died throughout history for this country would be to properly honor the American flag, and to live a honorable life in pursuit of the freedoms and hope it represnts. I am sorry for your loss. Respectfully, Major Chris Hrudka, United States Marine Corps
3 June 08 George Lutz Chesapeake VA Major I cannot thank you enough for making this comment. I too thought that the American flag should represent those lives lost. However it is not what Old Glory was meant to stand for. She stands for everything you stated but no-where in its meaning does it identify the sacrifices made. We have many flags to honor various groups in our nation, we have magnets and t shirts that say support our troops. But we have nothing that speaks specifically to the sacrifice and says Thank you! Why not a beautiful recognizable symbol that says we recognize that sacrifice and fly it in thanks to all those who didn't return home. We have thousands of unappreciated Vietnam and Korean war vets. I am reminded how they were treated not long ago, and even less so the parents of those who died there. Lets remind Americans there is that select group who died, so that we may walk free. Why not an icon so that all of the families, friends and veterans have some closure in the fact that we actually will never forget. Nothing is meant to ever replace or diminish the American flag, the proudest symbol of our nation. But like the POW flag recognizes a most honored and unique group so respectfully, so does the Honor and Remember flag. I believe there are hundreds of thousands that see this need and many more in appreciation of this important vision. God Bless you and I am very thankful for your service. If you would like to further discuss please write to me personally at george@honorandremember.org Respectfully George Lutz

06/03/08 alan haggard Chesapeake VA As a fully retired Sailor, I appreciate what you are doing. It is a long time coming, especially for the Viet Nam Vets, who, is spite of there service for freedom, were so poorly eviscerated on their return. I hope this gets a LOT of support, and goes all the way.

06/09/2008 Karen Cox MCAS Iwakuni I think this flag is wonderful, and I would love to see it adopted like the POW/MIA flag has been. Thank you for developing a flag that truly honors those who have given the ultimate sacrifice for their country. My husband is a Navy Chaplain and served as the battalion chaplain with the 1st Battalion 8th Marines in the Battle of Fallujah in Nov 2004. They lost 17 Marines in that battle plus an additional 4 Marines during the course of their entire deployment. I think this flag is a very fitting tribute to them and to all who have so willingly given their lives in defense of our freedom since the birth of our country. Our condolences to your family in the loss of your son. I firmly believe history will show that his [and your family's] sacrifice was not in vain!
06/09/2009 Rhonda Kirkpatrick Upland In What a beautiful flag to honor and remember our fallen heros. My only son, David lost his life in Fallujah Iraq April 27, 2007. Thank You, Family of PFC David Austin Kirkpatrick K.I.A. 4-27-07 Fallujah Iraq Matthews, Indiana

06/10/2008 Bill Lynch, USN (Ret) Portsmouth RI Thank you for this beautiful website. What a tribute to pay all our fallen servicemembers. Being retired U.S. Navy I cannot fathom the thought of what our servicemembers endured during their tour(s) in combat areas. Having two son's that both served in the U.S. Army and over in Iraq and returned back home thank God, but knowing what they both experienced over there for 15 months is just mind bloggling. They too lost many friends while there and to have this website is a blessing. To those servicemembers in harms way, may God shield you with guardian angels. God bless America, Bill Lynch, USN (Ret)
06/11/2008 Bradford Smith NC Simply stated, this is long overdue. I found this site today when I checked for updates at AFSPA website which had a link and it stopped me cold in my thoughts when I began to read about it. I served on active duty Air Force 22Sep87-21Sep91 and am a 17 year contiguous member of the American Legion. My grandfather served in WWII and my dad during Vietnam both in the Army. Both came home safely and are still with us today. The flag is beautiful, kudos to the designer(s). Let's get it recognized! Bradford I. Smith, Sergeant US Air Force Security Police 22Sep1987-21Sep1991

03 July 2008 Richard (Dick) M. Marcus, EMC, USN, Ret 04/08/77 Chesapeake, VA It's me again with more to say. Maybe if the "Armed Forces" of my time, 1956-1977, had been able to do our job then instead of losing lives for a "Politically Motivated" cause, the Armed Forces of this generation would not be losing their lives and limbs over another "P-M" blunder!!!!
